Build Process
Step 1: Decide to get a fiddlehead custom bike.
It’s a big decision. But I’d get one if I were you.
Step 2: Contact me, and pay the initial deposit.
Contact me using my contact page. We’ll have a discussion about the bike you’re looking for. If it seems like a good fit, we’ll proceed.
I’ll send you an invoice for an initial $500 deposit. Once this is paid, you’ve reserved your spot in line!
Step 3: Wait.
Step 4: Sizing and interview.
When you get close to the front of the line, I’ll be in touch again. At this point, we’ll talk a lot more specifics and take a few measurements to size your bike.
If you can meet in Portland, we’ll do this part in-person. If not, we’ll do it via video call. Either way works.
I’ll also ask you more questions about the bike you’re looking for, what you’re planning to use it for, what kinds of bikes you already have (if you know brands and sizes, this is really helpful). And I’ll want to know what you like about the bikes you’ve owned, and what you really have not liked.
We’ll use a shared document to track all of these questions and the design of your bike.
We’ll estimate the final build price at this point. And I’ll send you an invoice for half the remaining amount to fund materials and components. The remainder will be due when the bike is ready.
Step 4: Wait. Again.
This is the hardest part. Hang in there. I’ll be in touch with questions if they arise.
We’ll also chat (probably a few times) to finalize your bike’s colors during this step.
Step 5: Test ride and final fitting.
When the bike is ready, we’ll meet again. We’ll do any last minute adjustments then you’ll be off on your brand new custom bike!
The remainder of the balance is due at this time.
Step 6: Get on your bike and ride!
